MCU star Brie Larson is gearing up to start her Captain Marvel 2 training, and this time around she’ll be aided by a brand new home gym.
Brie Larson shows off her new home gym ahead of the start of her Captain Marvel 2 training. Oscar winner Larson was officially announced as the MCU’s Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, in 2016. Her arrival was hyped up considerably, with the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War hinting Captain Marvel would be the key to defeating Thanos. Early 2019 brought Captain Marvel, her first solo movie. The 90s-set project focused on Carol’s origin story, from how she got her powers to her decision to venture further into space and away from Earth.
Though its critical response wasn’t as overwhelmingly positive as past MCU installments, Captain Marvel was well-received by audiences and grossed over $1.12 billion at the worldwide box office. Unsurprisingly, Marvel soon greenlit a sequel and scheduled it for 2022. Larson will return for Captain Marvel 2, though this time around Nia DaCosta will serve as director (instead of the first film’s Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden). Plot details are still being kept under wraps, though it was recently confirmed adult Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) will have roles in the film.
Exactly when Captain Marvel 2 will begin filming has yet to be confirmed, but it does seem like it will be soon. In a new video shared to her YouTube channel, Larson revealed she recently set up a home gym for her Captain Marvel 2 training. “As you may know, Captain Marvel 2 is gearing up,” Larson said. While she couldn’t say much else about the movie, she did say it’s “time for me to get moving.” Larson’s superhero workouts are about to kick into high gear, so filming must be coming up. Assuming Larson will be training for at the most a few months, Captain Marvel 2 could head into production in the spring. This would give it ample time to be completed before its November 2022 release date, and perhaps it could avoid any issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Film and television productions have been struggling to carry on as normal amid a surge of rising cases, and fellow Marvel project Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness recently went on hold. However, Captain Marvel 2 still has some time before it will begin, so it could be okay.
Ahead of the first Captain Marvel, Larson showed various videos of her training, and perhaps she’ll offer more peeks this time around too. It’s already been two years since fans last saw Larson in action as Carol, and many are excited to see what will come next for her. Luckily, Captain Marvel 2 appears to be on track to meet its late 2022 premiere, so hopefully people won’t have to wait any longer than they already have to.
