Suicide Squad Set Photo Shows John Cena’s Peacemaker In “Tough” Scene

A Suicide Squad 2 behind-the-scenes set photo revealed at CCXP 2020 shows John Cena’s character Peacemaker taking part in a difficult scene.

A new behind-the-scenes set photo from The Suicide Squad shows John Cena’s Peacemaker in difficult scene. The upcoming DC Extended Universe movie is one of 2021’s most anticipated. It will feature some popular characters returning from 2016’s Suicide Squad, including Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). However, The Suicide Squad will introduce a wider audience to several new characters as well. These include Bloodsport (Idris Elba), The Thinker (Peter Capaldi), and Cena’s Peacemaker.

Fans won’t have to wait too long to see The Suicide Squad despite the uncertainty surrounding movie theaters during the pandemic. This week, Warner Bros. announced its entire 2021 slate, including The Suicide Squad, will be available on HBO Max the same day as in theaters. This applies only to U.S. subscribers, with the movies available on the streaming service for the first month. Following this announcement, The Suicide Squad was a part of WarnerMedia’s lineup at CCXP 2020. During the convention, which took place this weekend, director James Gunn revealed his final edit is complete, with members of the cast talking about their roles in the film.

At one point, Cena and Gunn discussed a The Suicide Squad scene where Peacemaker eats an empanada. Cena explained he committed to doing the scene in a seamless take. However, it took a bit of time to get the moment right, resulting in Cena eating 31 empanadas throughout the course of shooting the scene. A set photo also revealed during CCXP and shared by Twitter user Pop Patchwork shows that moment, with Cena eating an empanada in front of a blue screen. Check it out below:

Judging by Cena’s face in the photo, it’s clear eating the empanadas was starting to get to him at that point. The story about the scene from Cena is both amusing and shows the actor’s commitment to his role. It’s also exciting to see a new image from The Suicide Squad alongside the others revealed during the panel. Of all the new characters in the movie, there’s a particular interest in Cena’s Peacemaker. Since he already has a follow up show on the way at HBO Max, he’ll likely be a standout of The Suicide Squad.

Considering the enthusiasm for the upcoming movie, many were hoping for a full-length The Suicide Squad trailer at CCXP. Though that didn’t wind up happening, at least Gunn and the cast revealed some fun new information and images from the film. Hopefully, a trailer will debut sooner rather than later.
