Meet the newest bad boy on the 90 Day Fiancé block, Jovi Dufren! Here’s all to know about his ROV Supervisor job before he marries Yara on season 8.
It barely took a few minutes of Jovi Dufren talking about Yara Zaya for him to be crowned “the player” of 90 Day Fiancé season 8. Not only did the New Orleans boy admit to not being serious about his future, but it looks like he about to pull a Tania Maduro on Yara once she gets to America. However, what’s also interesting to fans about Jovi, apart from his recklessness or sleeping with strippers, is his job! Get to know more about the underwater robotics job that 90 Day Fiancé star Jovi does for a living.
Every season of 90 Day Fiancé introduces couples that bring a new set of scandals. With the one show that started it all coming back for a brand new season, TLC viewers looked forward to much more. Along came Jovi, 29, who has been established as the bad boy from the trailer. Probably next in line to become Jorge Nava, the trailer had Jovi’s fiancé, Yara, 25, worrying about his commitment phobia and alcohol issues. But then on episode one, Jovi himself was seen discussing his future with Yara with his mom and friends, looking rather unexcited. While 90 Day Fiancé fans did give credit to Jovi for actually arranging for a house for Yara while his co-star Brandon holed up at his parents’ place, he scored negative points for his playboy behavior. Jovi revealed he’s off to work within two weeks of Yara’s arrival on a K-1. But, what is this job that’s more important to Jovi than his future with Yara?

Fans saw a wide-eyed Jovi talk about his childhood involving shrimp boats and how it influenced him to work in underwater robotics. While talking about how much he loves his job, the new 90 Day Fiancé star discussed what it entails – going underwater and doing maintenance of pipelines and everything necessary for oil production. Along the way, he gets to see sea creatures and, his favorite part of all, travel. On LinkedIn, Jovi lists his job as “ROV Supervisor,” and explains in-depth what he does for his exciting work. Since about September 2008, when he started working as an ROV pilot, Jovi has been “managing system assets and personnel to attain project-related goals while minimizing safety and performance risks,” as well as reviewing projects, procedures and checking equipment for readiness, training and assessing the technicians on his projects and motivating them, and many other duties. Jovi also lists how he involves the personnel “in decisions…by the delegation of work appropriate to the level of responsibility” and leads the crew “through example regarding safety and operational requirements.”
Additionally, 90 Day Fiancé’s Jovi also helps in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of the system. Jovi now works at a company called C-Innovation LLC. With his experience in the oil and energy industry, and per Glassdoor, he likely has an average total pay of $130k. Meanwhile, StarsOffline states Jovi reportedly got paid around $14.5k by TLC for 90 Day Fiancé. His estimated net worth surpasses $200k.
It’s fairly odd for a 90 Day Fiancé cast member to have a good resume, especially since most couples are often fighting over finances. But with Jovi, it looks like “high maintenance” Yara is going to be fairly satisfied financially when he leaves her to go to sea two weeks after she arrives. But will the 90 Day Fiancé star get over his nervousness and have a happily ever after with Yara? The drama is just getting started!
