16 Queens Will Host Virtual New Year’s Eve Event

We’re all going to be quarantined instead of partying because of coronavirus, so why not support the drag queen community and tune in?

A group of queens have come together to host a live stream New Year’s Eve event on December 31st. The majority of the hosts and performers are alumni from RuPaul’s Drag Race

This year, many people were heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, drag queens included. Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race weren’t sure what would happen with the 14th season amongst social distancing, mask wearing and lockdown regulations. On November 23rd, RuPaul announced on Twitter that casting for season 14 has begun. Interested queens have until January 15th, 2021, to apply. Even though a new season is underway, you might want more drag drama now. Fortunately, various queens are planning a lengthy event to welcome the 2021 year.

To put an end to the chaos 2020 brought, 16 drag queens will be hosting an 11-hour livestream event called New Year’s Queens. The hosts are all RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni including Alaska, Bob the Drag Queen, Katya, Miz Cracker, Peppermint and Trixie Mattel. In addition, various queens will be performing including BenDeLaCreme, the Boulet Brothers, Divina De Campo, Ginger Minj, Jinkx Monsoon, Jujubee, Manila Luzon, BeBe Zahara Benet, Sharon Needles and Trinity The Tuck. You can join all of the queens for fashion and comedy filled entertainment on December 31, as announced by Entertainment Weekly.

Let’s basically celebrate the end of 2020. I will be wearing a nice dress and trying to put blush on Bob,” Mattel joked in her statement. “2020 has been a rough year to say the least, especially considering many performers and drag entertainers all over the world have been out of work,” Peppermint said on a more serious note. “It’s an honor to host this event with such remarkable talent.
