CD Projekt Red has finally shown off Cyberpunk 2077’s Photo Mode in detail with a brand-new gameplay video, and it looks incredibly advanced.
CD Projekt Red has finally shown off the Photo Mode for Cyberpunk 2077 in detail via a brand-new gameplay trailer. In the last several years, photo modes in video games have become all the rage, spawning a dedicated community online. As one of the most anticipated releases in recent memory, it’s no surprise that CD Projekt Red’s latest RPG aims to offer robust creation tools for its very own Photo Mode.
The studio teased plans for the mode many moons ago, but it’s long remained silent about the specifics. In the lead up to Cyberpunk 2077’s imminent launch, CD Projekt has focused much of its efforts on sharing story, gameplay, and cross-gen release details. As a result, otherwise extraneous bits of information, like Photo Mode, have remained on the sidelines. Thankfully, such details are now emerging.
This morning, CD Projekt Red shared a two-minute trailer entirely dedicated to Photo Mode in Cyberpunk 2077. Unsurprisingly, it seems as though the Polish developer went all out. While the video doesn’t show exactly how players will enter Photo Mode, a host of other interesting features are on display. For example, the mode will boast numerous customization options, including adjustments for stickers, special effects, and depth of field. Players will even be able to make the game’s protagonist V strike one of a plethora of different poses for the perfect shot.
Each of the aforementioned features will come with granular options of their own. In Photo Mode’s “Effects” menu, for instance, things like exposure, contrast, and highlights can be fine tuned. Suffice it to say, players will have plenty of options at their disposal when it comes to designing and taking their own screenshots in-game.
The promise of photo modes first came into view back in 2014 with the launch of Sucker Punch’s Infamous: Second Son. In the many years since then, developers the world over have refined the feature across various titles. It does not seem as though Cyberpunk 2077 will revolutionize the mode with anything fresh, especially when considering Sucker Punch’s incredible efforts with the Photo Mode in Ghost of Tsushima. However, fans who love investing time in video game photography are bound to find plenty to love in CD Projekt’s latest, since Cyberpunk 2077’s photo options can only serve to enhance the already stunning and graphically impressive landscapes of Night City.
