Fantasy stories are meaningless without a relatable protagonist, an underdog that is worth cheering on because they represent the hopes and dreams of everyone. The genre, however, is incredibly diverse — it consists of almost every possible facet of the imagination, comics, movies, TV, novels, video games, the list can go on forever.
As expected, heroes in the fantasy narrative are often good characters, in the moralistic sense of the word, making them quite a catch (in addition to their physical appearance, if relevant, of course.) Sorting them by Zodiac signage is a great way to break the ice and introduce potential matches.
12 Aries – Obelix
Aries are naturally confident, blessed with a powerful desire to lead, and have the emotional maturity that comes along with it. They tend towards relationships in which their partners are smart, but painfully truthful about everything because the one thing they admire more than anything else is honesty.
Obelix, for example, from the Asterix series, encapsulates such a personality. He might be prone to boasting, but he often backs up his words with his actions.
11 Taurus – Gandalf
Gandalf is one of the most intelligent characters in his universe and is pretty much the main reason that Sauron’s reign finally comes to an end. Very few people would be capable of dealing with his binary nature — on one side, he exhibits a placid outlook towards life, while on the other, an unquenchable flame rages within the depths of his soul.
Those born under the Taurus sign are grounded in reality, allowing them to explore the intricacies of Gandalf without being consumed by his all-encompassing majesty.
10 Gemini – Cinderella
A person belonging to Gemini is best described in terms of elasticity; they allow themselves to bend with the flow and be taken to new and exciting locations. In other words, they burst with a desire for adventure, one which can be sated rather well by Cinderella.
She loves attention, although she would possibly deny it, but who wouldn’t want to spend a glorious evening dancing with a handsome prince? Geminis are best placed to offer Cinderella everything she wants, with full knowledge that they would receive it all back with interest.
9 Cancer – Buffy Summers
Buffy is not easily tamed. In fact, her major relationships have been with two ancient vampires, as humans seemingly don’t seem to cut it for her. This is where being a Cancer comes in handy because their innate sense of imagination and intense emotions about practically everything would synch flawlessly with her general mood (which flips between cheerfulness and morbid gloom).
It also helps that this Zodiac sign is bestowed with a surprisingly high level of perceptiveness because it’s quite an essential component in a romance with Buffy Summers.
8 Leo – Mary Poppins
A Leo is usually quite centered, even if it means the focus is all on themselves. This doesn’t mean that they’re selfish, though, just that they love the attention. Mary Poppins, with her nanny-attitude and constant affection, will fit their idea of a soulmate satisfactorily.
Not only will she be able to deal with a Leo’s need for theatrics, but also help channel those emotions into something more constructive. This is useful because this sign finds the act of paying heed to others kind of difficult.
7 Virgo – Xena
The Warrior Princes is not one for relationships: her lifestyle preferences include tons of traveling, fighting, and just being intimidating in every possible way.
The Virgo is suited to handle Xena’s overpowering aura, as they are unlikely to subdue it (which would cause some serious problems) but rather add their own protective shell around hers. In fact, both this Zodiac and Xena are initially cold, at least until they get to know the other person better, which is one major thing they have in common.
6 Libra – Dorothy Gale
Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz (1939) is adventurous, experimental, and considerably more progressive than the rest of her era. She looks actively for new experiences and learns how to build perspective from both her triumphs and her failures.
The Libra’s purely rational manner of thought, therefore, becomes an efficient counter-balance to Dorothy’s wild-child ways. However apt they may be for each other, care must be taken from both sides not to be too constricting in their ambitions, as it could potentially wear their partner out.
5 Scorpio – Harry Potter
The interesting thing about the Scorpio is their relentless devotion for those close to them, even if such an honor is only granted long after their first meeting. Harry clearly appreciates this kind of blazing loyalty, being from Gryffindor as well as his journey towards the Dark Lord, since it would have been impossible to defeat Voldemort without his friends next to him.
What he needs, as is obvious from his choice of partner, is someone who doesn’t hesitate to jump into the fray and capture their heart’s desire, regardless of what the world thinks.
4 Sagittarius – Inigo Montoya
Inigo Montoya is one of the most focused fantasy characters of all time — there is but one thing he desires above anything else in the world: to locate the man who murdered his father, Domingo, and exact sweet revenge.
This determination is admirable but can leave gaps in the other facets of his life, which a Sagittarius is well-equipped to take care of. This sign is not necessarily expressive, but they have the highest probability of all twelve in speaking the absolute truth. Inigo is liable to find this jarring in the beginning, but not for long.
3 Capricorn – Sansa Stark
It’s not easy to establish what Sansa Stark turns into by the end of her narrative, but it can be safely assumed that she isn’t the carefree, innocent girl she used to be. She isn’t exactly a bad person, but she has conducted acts of cruelty with a perfectly calm expression on her face, which would make most people nervous to be around her, let alone with her.
Not so the Capricorn. These folks are the definition of true blue; they perform emotional labor without asking for much in return, a trait that Sansa desperately needs in a soulmate.
2 Aquarius – Zuko
The non-judgmental mentality displayed by Aquarians is one of the few viewpoints that can see past Zuko’s seething rage and aggressive behavior, deep into his broken heart (within which is caged a lonely teenager with an identity crisis).
A potential drawback of this pairing lies in the fact that both of them subscribe to the philosophy of personal freedom, whether it means hurting the ones who care the most, as they can just run off on their quests and leave the other person behind. Unless they go together.
1 Pisces – Yennefer Of Vengerberg
Yennefer’s life is not a pleasant one, not at first anyway, seeing as her father actually sells her for less than one of his pigs. She encounters a lot of pain before becoming the powerful witch she is now, but the scars of her past remain shielded by an enchanted covering of blemish-free skin.
The Piscean searches not for the perfection of the exterior, but for the goodness that lies inside her, and there is more than enough of that. They should rein in any over-optimistic expectations, though.
