Watch Euro NCAP Crash-Test The Mazda MX-30 And Honda Jazz

Euro NCAP has published the results of its latest session, which saw the Mazda MX-30 and Honda Jazz getting crash-tested.

With five stars under its belt, the MX-30 obtained 91 and 87 percent for Adult and Child occupant protection, and 68 and 73 percent for the Pedestrian and Safety Assist respectively. The model’s front-end structure and new far-side restraints were praised by the safety specialists, though its collision avoidance capabilities didn’t impress.

The fourth generation Honda Jazz/Fit has been awarded with the maximum rating, scoring 87 percent in Adult and 83 percent in Child occupant, and 80 percent for the Pedestrian and 76 percent for the Safety Assist. The sub-compact features a new center-mounted airbag that protects the driver and front passenger against injuries, and is offered with autonomous emergency braking as well. The result makes it a worthy opponent to the Toyota Yaris, which was the first vehicle to have been tested against Euro NCAP’s new protocols.

“Both Honda and Mazda are to be congratulated for their commitment to safety and for achieving five-star ratings for their cars. The ratings released to date demonstrate that Euro NCAP’s new 2020 protocols are having a tangible impact on the safety equipment and crash performance of car models in Europe, including the latest electrified vehicles”, said Secretary General Michiel van Ratingen. “Industry’s response to consumer ratings remains one the most important drivers for vehicle safety innovation, to the benefit of all road users in Europe.”

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe And Mercedes-Benz EQV

Instead of testing the first-ever BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe, which is based on the 1-Series hatch, and the new Mercedes-Benz EQV, itself a zero-emission version of the V-Class, Euro NCAP gave both of these models the same five-stars as the vehicles they are based on and which were evaluated in 2019 and 2014 respectively.
