Impossible 7’s Hayley Atwell Goofs Off on Set in BTS Video

Mission: Impossible 7’s Hayley Atwell, who will star alongside Tom Cruise, flies down a slide in an adorable behind-the-scenes video.

Mission: Impossible 7‘s Hayley Atwell goofs off in an adorable behind-the-scenes video. The Mission: Impossible film series began with Brian de Palma’s 1996 movie; it’s since developed into a sprawling franchise that stars Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt. The Mission: Impossible films have proven to be both a critical and commercial success, with fans praising the fast-paced action sequences and incredible stunts.

Atwell is best known for her role as the MCU’s Peggy Carter, and will be headlining Mission: Impossible 7 as the female lead. Although details for Atwell’s character have been kept under wraps, director Christopher McQuarrie did say that Atwell and Cruise have fantastic on-screen chemistry. McQuarrie has also been vocal about making Atwell’s character unique, rather than a rehash of the franchise’s other female characters.

Atwell recently uploaded an Instagram video showing herself goofing off on set. The video shows Atwell going down an enormous slide, where she breaks out into laughter at the bottom. It’s also worth mentioning that Atwell is wearing a mask, which is likely due to Mission: Impossible 7’s COVID-19 health and safety restrictions. You can check out Atwell’s charming video below:

It’s good to see that Atwell is taking a break on set, especially since Mission: Impossible 7 is reportedly packed with mind-blowing—and often dangerous—stunts. Atwell has already posted a video of herself atop a moving train, while another shows Cruise and Atwell in the midst of staging a car crash. On that note, it will be incredibly cool to see Atwell in action during the final cut of Mission: Impossible 7. Yet while the Mission: Impossible franchise has built its reputation around jaw-dropping stunts, each film has been determined to one-up its predecessor. To that end, while fans are eager to see Atwell tackling these stunts, many hope that the star will stay safe as well.

Although Atwell is a newcomer to the Mission: Impossible franchise, it seems that she’ll be around for quite some time. More specifically, the actress has already been confirmed for Mission: Impossible 8, so it appears that the train and car stunts are only the beginning. That being said, it’s clear that Atwell has a “work hard, play hard” mentality. Even though much of the stuntwork for Mission: Impossible 7 truly does seem impossible to pull off, Atwell is more than up for the challenge. At the end of the day, though, Atwell shows that she’s ready to kick back, relax, and slide into the weekend.
