Almost a week before Sackboy: A Big Adventure’s release date and the launch of Sony’s next-gen console, several fellow studios with games under the Sony umbrella – namely Bend Studio, Kojima Productions, and Sucker Punch Productions – took to Twitter to show off Sackboy costumes coming bundled with the game’s Digital Deluxe and Special Editions. Bend Studio revealed a glimpse of Sackboy as the motorcycle-loving, zombie-fighting Days Gone protagonist, Deacon St. John. Sporting a grizzled beard, long hair, and backwards baseball cap, the cloth figure of Sackboy exuberantly mimes riding at top speeds in the post.
Not to be outdone, Kojima Productions shared a tweet featuring Sackboy as Sam Porter Bridges from Death Stranding. The too-cute Sackboy sways back and forth, soothing a tiny replica of a Bridge Baby while trying to rock a beard and mustache made from tiny threads. Finally, Sucker Punch Productions unveils the Sackboy interpretation of Ghost of Tsushima’s Samurai-turned-ghost, Jin Sakai. The character’s clan mask and intimidating martial prowess is somewhat less fear-inducing on the former LittleBigPlanet mascot, especially since it appears to be having some trouble with the katana. All of the costumes posted by these individual studios and more perks like unique emotes, a variety of Sackboy avatars, and more will come bundled with the Digital Deluxe Edition and Special Edition of the game. The launch of the next generation of consoles is just around the corner. Many anticipated launch titles for the PlayStation 5 are getting some serious interest in the headlines. Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been showing off a huge amount of content leading up to next week, and the attention has some of the game’s team worried about spoilers. Another upcoming PlayStation 5 release, Bluepoint Games’ remake of Demon’s Souls, is being put under the microscope to examine some fan-favorite features. With all of this anticipation in the air, it’s a great time for Sumo Digital to show off these costumes for Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The posts will likely not only get people talking about the game but also, with all the Sony-exclusive content, remind players of all the potential triple-A titles PlayStation could bring to its console.
